Fashion Tips

Dress your personality!!

  1. CLASSIC/ELEGANT: Your clothes never enter the room before you do! You are known for clothes in the best fabrics, simple style, one good piece of jewelry, genuine leather accessories.
  2. SEXY: You enjoy clothes that enhance your curves-fluid fabrics, deeper necklines, waist treatments, sensual fabrics like silk, cashmere, slinky knits, & leather.
  3. SPORTY: Remember- casual doesn't mean sloppy. Wear layered coordinates-always pulled together with a vest, blazer, or anorak style jacket. Head Gear like baseball caps can give many just casual outfits that sporty feel
  4. ROMANTIC: You love being a woman & enjoy lace touches, soft florals, & pearls. Style is the way you put together clothes, not the clothes themselves. There is something to be said for picking clothes you won't get sick of but that feel good.
  • Unless you don't mind getting rid of certain items every season, stay away from overly trendy pieces when shopping for your basic wardrobe.
  • Don't pick everything you see in magazines. Pick what looks and feels better on you. This comes with being honest and true to yourself.
  • Wear what's right for your body type and don't be a slave to fashion
  • No matter how hoochie koochie you get with Gucci, no matter how breathless you become in a Prada dressing room, no matter how cute a pair of Chanel eyelet hot-pants are, if a particular style is unflattering on you, you can look, well, tacky!!!
  • Your wardrobe should show your personality, not the personality of the store's salesperson.

Beauty Tips

Make-Up Tips: The look: Copper-licious. This season's version of the full-on "smoky eye" is in eye-catching metals. Black liner is still the base of this look, but a shimmery colored shadow provides the sultry effect How to get it: Line the inner rim of the eyes first. Black liner keeps this orange-based shade from washing out the complexion. Next, brush a matte shadow over the lid and top it with a shimmer shadow for intense contrast. Great to try: MAC Pro Pigment in Copper, and I absolutely love voluminous black noir mascara, affordable and great for those lashes... I used this on and off stage at the Miss USA competition.

Going out for the night? Need the sexy glamorous look?

I love to apply my smoky charcoal eye shadow from Mac in the crease of my eye, and on my lids a soft cream or off white shadow. One thing I've learned from modeling and photo shoots is how to apply makeup, blend, and use my black eye shadow as an eyeliner too! So i finish my eye with eye liner, and voluminous mascara. Throw on some C-thru lip gloss and wulahh!! And remember stay simple, natural and sexy!

Make-up Dos and Don'ts - And Maybes:

Dos

  • Makeup should only go on a freshly washed and moisturized face.
  • Whatever you're doing, you have to see what you're doing. Have bright, even light in front of your bathroom mirror.
  • Finally, blend. blend. And did I mention...blend! You don't want to see where color begins or ends. Whether it's foundation, blush, or eye color: no hard, drawn lines. An exception to this would be eyeliner, but I prefer even that to be smudged.

Don'ts

  • Pink complexions should not wear pinkish foundations. No way. No how. Not ever!
  • My pet peeve (take it for what it's worth) is wearing dark lip liner and a lighter lip color. This is what I call "the inflatable doll" look. Scary.

Maybes

  • When it comes to color, take direction from you hair, rather than from your eyes or your clothes. Or not!
  • It used to be a no-no to wear shimmer eye shadows on mature faces (shimmer accentuated the lines). But most shimmer formulas are so refined now, just about anyone can wear them.
  • Are some looks strictly day or night? Nah. (Besides, when you're coming home from a party at 5 a.m. is it day or is it night? These are the mysteries of life.)
  • Foundation Secret Apply foundation to your face AFTER you have done your eye make-up. This helps you to fix any last minute smudging from mascara or eyeliner under the eyes.

Lipstick Trick

  • Love matte lipstick, but feel your dry lips wreck the look? Apply a lip balm to lips before starting your make-up routine. By the time you have done your eyes and rest of the face, your lips will be moisturized and ready for the matte lipstick.

Manicure Tip

  • If you have been sloppy applying nail polish, simply soak nails (when dry) in warm water for a few minutes and then rub off extra nail polish gently with a finger.

Skincare

Here, my top 5 skin tips:

  1. Protect yourself from the sun -- use sunscreen and avoid direct sunlight between the hours of 10 and 2.
  2. Don't -- I repeat -- don't smoke. Your skin is a large organ and it needs a lot of circulation. Smoking impairs that dramatically. That's why smokers' skin looks dull and gray. Instead of having oxygenated blood delivered to the surface of the skin, they're getting poisons and oxidants.
  3. Get adequate rest and nutrition.
  4. Protect yourself from stress -- both emotional and environmental stress.
  5. Wash your face twice a day and put on the proper treatment product. I'm amazed when women tell me they don't wash their face in the morning. A lot of icky stuff collects overnight -- dead skin cells, dirt, and dust!

Diet/Nutrition

A meal plan devoid of favorite foods is doomed to disaster, not to mention virtually impossible to follow for very long. It's too difficult for most of us to just say no to the foods we love.

  • Aim for a small total amount, maybe a small portion daily, of a favorite food.
  • Choose foods that you like but are able to resist after you've had a small portion. For example, you'll probably never be satisfied with one or two potato chips, but one bite of cheesecake might be enough to satisfy.
  • Walk the dog for 15 extra minutes each day, or take a 15-minute walk during your lunch break.
  • Make your coffees light by using skim milk and artificial sweetener, instead of cream and sugar.
  • Eliminate Excuses "Even if you're not a morning person, schedule exercise for first thing in the morning.
  • Seek Inspiration. Feeling a little less than vibrant? Find a mental mentor to get you moving.
  • Tune In to Tone Up! When it comes to exercise, music can move you -- not only because it offers mental stimulation, but also because it may help put you in a better mood.
